Ancient Greek Voices (Stemmer fra Antikken) is a history of Ancient Greek subalterns told in their own voices.
In a kind montage inspired by the ragpickers of Walter Benjamin’s Arcades Project this book collects 34 fragmentary voices of the otherwise voiceless: the poor, the foreign, the enslaved and women, and joins them together in a new social history of the ancient Greek world. Ancient Greek Voices explores the social world of the subaltern through their own perspectives to give a new and polychromic view of the ancient Greek world.
The project began on Instagram and some of the voices can still be found there intermingling with other fragments.
Ancient Greek Voices (Stemmer fra Antikken) is published in Danish by Frydelund Academic and available here and at your local (Danish) bookstore.
