Christian A. Thomsen is Research Professor of ancient Greek history at the National Museum of Denmark. He is the author of the books Stemmer fra Antikken (Frydenlund, 2024) and The Politics of Association in Hellenistic Rhodes (Edinburgh, 2020) and has published on various aspects of social and political organization in the Classical and Hellenistic world, especially private associations and migration. He is co-editor of Private Associations in the Public Sphere (Copenhagen, 2015) and Between Athens and Rhodes (Copenhagen 2024).
Between 2020 and 2024 he was the Principal Investigator on the Copenhagen-based research project Migrants and Membership Regimes in the Ancient Greek World funded by Independent Research Fund Denmark (Sapere Aude).
Since 2018, he has been co-editor-in-chief of Classica et Mediaevalia – the Danish Journal of Philology and History.
